Blues on the Green: A standing Austin Tradition

The framework of Austin, Texas is a woven tapestry of music, community, food, and cultural arts. Each element of the tapestry is integral to maintaining the spirit of the city over 900,000 people call home. One element that helps to foster such a unique tapestry is the events around the city. For example, Blues on the Green, a longstanding Austin music event, helps to maintain the spirit that makes Austin the great city it is.

Located at the east end of Zilker Park (off Lou Neff Road) the music starts promptly at 8:00 p.m. The sense of community can be strongly felt at events like these, in which patrons sit together on the lawn and enjoy local tunes and company.

Blues on the Green is a great way for the entire family to immerse themselves in Austin culture—even the family dog is welcome (as long as he or she is on leash at all times).

Picnic-ing is encouraged and alcoholic beverages are available in the VIP section. When you are through with your meal and beverages, there are also recycling receptacles placed around the park for your convenience. It’s a chance to do your part in making the city of Austin a little bit cleaner and greener.

In a continuation of the spirit of community, this free event is able to remain a free community event thanks to various event sponsors and the Austin Parks and Recreation Department. Blues on the Green is a great way to support the community by immersing yourself into it.

This classic Austin summer tradition occurs once a month. The upcoming dates that you need to know are Wednesday, June 14; Wednesday, July 12; and Wednesday, August 2.

Don’t miss out on your chance to feel the magic of your community courtesy of the classic Blues on the Green summer concert series. Music, food, community and good times—what else could you possibly need?

We hope to see you and your family (and your dog) at the next Blues on the Green at Zilker Park on Wednesday, June 14!
